Tuesday 9.13.11

Was your Monday so long that it feels like it should be the weekend already? Well, you're in luck (mp3 goodies for the out of town crowd):

1) Neon Indian is playing a free DJ set at record store Other Music (15 E. 4th Street). 6-8p.

Neon Indian- Terminally Chill
Neon Indian- Deadbeat Summer

2) Free outdoor movie alert: Pee Wee's Big Adventure showing in Red Hook. Presented by Steve's Key Lime Pies, so there'll probably be some delicious stuff for sale.

3) Launch party for Blanda for Obey (yeah, I don't know either). Free Sailor Jerry Rum. Starts at 9p, at the Bowery Hotel (335 Bowery) 2nd Floor Terrace. Enter on 3rd St. between Bowery and 2nd Ave. RSVP: Blanda4Obey@gmail.com.

UPDATE: Free rum cocktails only from 9-10p, so get there early. But it's a Tuesday anyway, so you should be in bed after that.

4) Switchboard #7 mixtape release party, DJs and music curated by Telephoned. Free, 8p, on the roof of Hotel Chantelle (92 Ludlow Street). RSVP @ Good-peoples.com.

5) Comedy at the Grocery at Arlene's Grocery (95 Stanton). Monthly stand-up show, and this time includes names like Godfrey and Hannibal Buress. 9p, $5.

6) Free MTV Comedy Showcase at the Studio at Webster Hall (125 E. 11th st.), 8p. Industry showcase, so expect some future-names [future-birds].

7) Tell Your Friends! 6th Anniversary Show. This weekly "work-out" show for established comics, hosted by Liam McEneaney, is bringing out the big guns: Janeane Garofalo, Hannibal Buress (no, I don't know how he's going to be in two places at once), along with a Secret Guest Comedian. Music, too: Sean Bones, and a Secret Musical Guest. Basement of Lolita (266 Broome St) at 8p, $5.

From the website, on the secret guest comedian: due to contractual obligations, we can’t give away this man’s identity. But we can say that:
A) he is a huge national headliner who has made multiple appearances on every show a comedian can appear on, from “Letterman” to several one-hour specials B) to go see him at one of his theater shows would cost you a hell of a lot more than seeing him at TYF!

Please be Louis C.K. Please be Louis C.K.
