Saturday 9.24

Mixed weather for tomorrow, so a bunch of options:

1) The Bushwick Beer Garden is holding a free Oktoberfest celebration: 321 Harman Street, 1R, Brooklyn.

"The BBG is not a bar but a space for getting together with old and new friends alike; BBG events are always free to attend. BYOB and feel free to dress up or come as you are, try traditional foods on hand or bring something special to put on the grill. Make this your first, last or only stop at this rain or shine event." [via Nonsense NYC]

This sounds like drinking in a vacant lot with other people. But look--they have a Facebook event!

2) The 11th Annual Coney Island Film Festival is this weekend, and it expectedly focuses on left of center films. Official Saturday Night Party from 7-11p at the New York Aquarium (602 Surf Ave.). Burlesque, dancing, music. $15. I believe there's also a special screening of Warriors at 10:30, but it may or may not be sold out.

3) Neighborhood Stories hosted by Justin Vivian Bond free at the (temporary) BMW Guggenheim Lab (Houston St. @ 2nd Avenue), 7-9p.

4) Another bizarre one from Nonsense NYC--Secret Wars: A Live Art Battle
"Freebase vs. Seeone. Black and white live art battle. White walls, black paint, and 90 minutes on the clock. Music by DJH2O and DJ PJIII." At The Loom (1087 Flushing Avenue #119, Brooklyn). 8p-1a, $4.

Music after the jump

5) This is going to be a good one: DOM and Adventure at Glasslands (289 Kent Ave., Brooklyn), with free Reyka vodka (I'm assuming a limited supply), 9p. Complicated entrance: free if you show them you have the Rdio phone app OR if you have a dumbphone RSVP and it'll be $5. Either way, not too shabby. Freedar alert: keep an eye out for free DOM sunglasses.

DOM- Living in America
Adventure- Feels Like Heaven

6) Fool's Gold at Brooklyn Bowl (61 Wythe Ave.), 11:30p doors, 12a show. Free for those in the know: RSVP to get on the list. Otherwise, $7 at the door.

Fool's Gold- Street Clothes
Fool's Gold- The World Is All There Is

7) Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., People Get Ready, and Jump into the Gospel at the Bowery Ballroom (6 Delancey St.), $15, doors at 8:30p, show at 9:30p.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.- Morning Thought

8) Wild Beasts w/ support from Bobby at Music Hall of Williamsburg (N. 6th St.), $20, doors at 8p, show at 9p.

Wild Beasts- All the King's Men
Bobby- Ginger (Water Birth)

9) Fucked Up and Wavves at Webster Hall (125 E. 11th St.), $18a/$20d, doors at 6p, show at 7p.

Wavves- Post Acid
Wavves- King of the Beach
Wavves- So Bored

10) Lastly, the big ticket item: Fleet Foxes and The Walkmen at the Williamsburg Waterfront, $47.15 (with fucking Ticketmaster fees), doors at 5:30p.

Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues (one of my favorite songs this year, so far)
The Walkmen- Another One Goes By
